AFTERHOURS-JAZZ
MARIEKE SCHUURS started singing jazz in 2003. Her style has been described as "powerfully emotional", "smoky", and "sexy". In Eugene, she can be heard at the Oregon Wine Warehouse or LaVelle’s Bistro, and in Florence at Traveler’s Cove Restaurant. Her group AFTERHOURS—JAZZ often features Steve Larson on piano. Marieke has also performed as a classical singer with Eugene Opera, the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, and Willamette Concert Opera. She was Chorus Master for Eugene Opera from 1999–2004, and she currently directs and sings with “Yuletime Carolers”, a holiday entertainment group.
